HALLOWEEN WEDDING!

Hello Everyone! From being wedding crazy last year and having not much time, to decorating the entire house in a couple of weeks this year, I've decided to work on blog where I can showcase some of the real weddings that I've had the pleasure of photographing. I'm hoping this will be a great way for future couples to see a little bit more of what they can expect if they book me as a photographer, as well as getting some amazing wedding inspiration to help with their own wedding planning. I will try and include as many of the suppliers as possible so that if you see an idea you like you can get in touch directly.

First up I would love to showcase Emma & Richard’s wedding who got married on Halloween 2022!

With a Halloween wedding you have the opportunity to take the theme where you want, you can go as little or as out there as you so wish. With Emma & Richard’s wedding they wanted to keep it to a real autumnal feel which is absolutely stunning, with some little Halloween twists. You can see these with the small pumpkins and pine cone displays on the tables as well as the table names and the red lace.

I loved the idea of having little magnets and some small pumpkins as the favours, presented with the tarot cards and the small little drink token for each person. Some weddings have the very popular sweet table, instead Emma and Richard went for the halloween mask and dress up area, which the children and adults loved!

Around the outside of the marquee they had the beautiful tables set out with the cake which was made my the grooms father. As well as using crates as a display for the loved ones who couldn't be there, which is a great way to have them with you on the day. I also loved the idea of the message in a bottle. It's little keepsakes like this which I feel are so special so you can look back on the day and display them in your house as a little reminder of all your family and friends. They even used a barrel as the card letter box.

Hockwold hall is such a beautiful venue with so many amazing autumnal colours around the ground, it's a perfect backdrop for your day whatever the season may be. You have plenty of rooms for all your guests to stay if they wish, and you can start and finish the day with no worries at all. All of the staff were very welcoming and so helpful on running the day smoothly. They have an indoor and outdoor ceremony space so there's plenty of choice depending on the weather. With the reception in the marquee out the back there is a huge amount of space for everyone to enjoy, including the children. What I also felt worked so well with this venue was the ‘dungeon', in the house they have a basement with a bar fitted so that you can continue the party into the night without disturbing the neighbours. Emma & Richard had transformed this space to have a Harry Potter theme. Where they had small trinkets and the suitcases stacked up to give it a truly magical feel.

Another little fun idea that I've wanted to do for ages is to have the carved pumpkins. Now I'm not someone that after having your hair and make up done for hours is going to make you put a pumpkin on your head, however just carving one and grabbing It to hold in front of your face is a fun way to incorporate the theme into the couple shots. What I loved was they even had a little carved pumpkin so that their son could join in!

Now I'm not going to waffle on to much because lets face it writing isn't my strong area and I should just stick behind the camera, but have a look at a selection of the photos from Emma & Richards wedding day. Below you will find a list of the suppliers if you are looking for inspiration for your day. Enjoy!

"I do not have one negative thing to say about Karen - honestly blown away by the service, photos and everything! Karen photographed our wedding in October, and we also had an engagement shoot earlier in the year. Our wedding photos were one of the most important parts for me, so choosing a good photographer was high priority, and Karen definitely delivered. Communication was quick and easy throughout. And the photos are just perfect, seeing them brought all the emotions back and they will be treasured."
